Actually, scratch that :(

I really hate to make this announcement so soon after sharing our joy, but we have lost the baby. I had slight spotting and went in for an emergency ultrasound today, and the baby measured only nine weeks (I was to be twelve weeks today) and lacked a heartbeat.

Please keep Erich and me in your prayers in our time of grief.

You don't know me and I don't know you. When I read your first two entries it didn't seem to matter. I am a women, a mother, and have experienced the pain of the loss of a child. I am so sorry. I know that this baby was important to you and your husband. I know that bonding, even at the very begining of a pregnancy is very powerful and beautiful. The life of an unborn baby is truly significant. Everyones loss is diffenent. My son was full term and lived for ten days. I know that a baby lost at any stage is the loss of someone very special (Don't let anyone try to minimize it). Let your family, husband, and church congregation take care of you. That is what they are there for.
There are a few scriptures that have helped me in processing my own loss.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths".

Isaihia 54:
1)...Break forth into singing and cry aloud, thou that did not travel with you child...
6)For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God
7) For but a small moment I have forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
8) In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment: but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.
10) For the mountians shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
11) Oh thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundation with saphires.
13) And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord: and great shall be the peace of thy children.

It is true that this loss is one that can shake us to the depth of our souls. But we must remember that it can also take us closer to heaven. And that is where we want to be-for indeed, to lose a baby must mean that heaven needs another angel.

Dear Susan and Erich,

Sending big hugs and lots of prayers for you during this time. We can't know what you are going through but grieve this loss with you nonetheless. Know that many are praying and thinking about you--people you may not even know but who care about you as brothers and sisters in Christ.

We love you!
